Naughty Naughty Boy!

Okay, yes he was naughty, but this cracked me up. Laughing is probably not the best way to make sure he doesn't do it again though...oops. Anyway, enjoy.

Just thought I'd throw this in here too. What a strong little boy!

Disneyland!

Okay, I'm finally getting our Disneyland pictures up. We had so much fun! The plane rides were a little interesting. We had people coming up to us after the flight there saying, "oh don't worry about it, we all have kids" and stuff like that, so you can imagine. He was absolutely screaming his head off the last 20 min. of the flight there. It was interesting. The flight back wasn't as bad other than I got a sucker for him in hopes that it would help...it did, but made a huge sticky mess. Oh well. The park was so fun! Cody was so much more aware of things, and absolutely loved so many of the rides. His favorites were the Brother Bear land and Toon Town though, because he could kind of just do what he wanted. As for me and Steven, well, we had a lot of fun too. We got to ride all the rides we wanted to, I FINALLY got to see Fantasmic for the first time, we had a lot of fun bonding with Steven's family, and I got my Mint Julep (an absolute MUST in Disneyland). Steven's mom and dad were such troopers and watched Cody so much so we could ride some of the big rides. However, there was one time where we weren't with the whole group, and we were passing Splash Mountain (my all time favorite ride) and there was only a 5 minute wait. I hadn't ridden it yet, and was dying too, so I left Steven and Cody to go ride it by myself. Well, not only was I the only one from our group, but I got a whole log to myself. I was laughing at myself so hard. I called my sister Jennifer while I was on it because I wanted to share my patheticness with someone. By the time I hung up, I was in tears I was laughing so hard. It was great! By the way, if you don't want to get wet on that ride, ride on a log by yourself. I was as dry as can be at the end. Anyway, what a great trip!! Thank you so much Nanny and Poppy for such a wonderful trip! It was great!!

Piano for sale! (SOLD)

We are selling our piano if anybody is interested, or if anybody you know might be interested. It is a 44" Yamaha m425 upright. It has a beautiful mahogany finish. We bought it in 2006, and it's in really good condition. It comes with a matching bench. We're asking $2,500 for it. It usually sells for around $3,200 or more. We can accept credit cards and can deliver it locally if needed. If you're intersted, leave a comment and some contact information if I don't already have it.

Halloween!

Okay, so I know this is way super late, but hey, better late then never, I always say. Halloween was AWESOME this year. It was so fun to take Cody trick-or-treating. I didn't think it would go so well, but he actually did a really good job walking around taking treats from people. I think he wondered why we didn't do that every day after that.

There were lots of parties this year, which were a lot of fun. Cody was a monkey this year, which is very fitting for him. He is seriously a climber, just ask anyone that's around him for about 2 min at a time. Most of you know what a climber he is. He's definitely my little monkey. Steven was a missionary and I was a witch. Anyway, here are some pictures...

Happy Anniversary!!!

Today is mine and Steven's 6 year anniversary! I can't believe it's already been that long. It feels like yesterday. It has been a good 6 years. The best of my life. I couldn't have asked for a better husband/companion/best friend! Here are a few pictures of us through the years (well, at least since we got a digital camera). Sorry there are no pictures of us on our wedding day. My photographer went insane and dropped off the face of the planet. Long story...needless to say, all I have are the proofs. Anyway, Happy Anniversary Steven...I love you!

Proposition 8

http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/commentary/the-divine-institution-of-marriage

Since Proposition 8 has been an extremely heated subject amongst many lately, I feel (after much thought and contemplation) that it is my duty to share this article with all of you. Please know that this is in no way an attempt to undermine anybody and/or their beliefs, or to offend, it is simply what the LDS church states about this proposition and same-sex marriage in general, and so is what I believe to be true. I found this article because I wanted to get a clearer view on exactly what the church says about this subject. I sought to educate myself, and found this article to be extremely insightful and upfront. It is pretty long, but so worth reading because of the knowledge it brings on how the church stands and why. If there was ever any doubt in your mind on how the church feels about this, or if you're like me and just want a little more knowledge on the subject, or if you keep asking yourself why the LDS church cares so much, you need to read this!

First Haircut!

I finally broke down and agreed to let Steven take Cody to get his very first haircut. It was a very bitter sweet thing for me. I really miss his adorable curls, but at the same time, it's kind of nice not having a vagabond child anymore. Plus, I was getting sick of everybody thinking he was a girl. I think he looks very handsome! He was so good while the lady went to work. He wouldn't sit still, but he didn't cry or fuss or anything, so that was nice. Anyway, my little boy is definitely growing up. He looks so much older now.

After shots...he looks a bit funny in these pictures, probably because of all the gel in his hair, but he really does look cute.

Aimee Cakes

A lot of you have asked if I made Cody's cake. I would LOVE to take the credit, but alas...no. I was planning on it, but by the time I bought the pan, and all the tools necessary, it would've ended up costing me close to 30 bucks, not to mention the fact that it would have taken me FOREVER, and I had enough to worry about that day. Anyway, so I decided to look into this one company that I had heard about. I'd actually seen one of the cakes this Aimee Cakes makes at a baby shower I'd gone to, and it was amazing. I contacted Aimee and she said she would only charge me 20 bucks. DONE DEAL! I was so happy with it, and I think Cody was too. ;) It was adorable, she did such a good job! Here's a link to her website for your next professional cake needs. http://aimeecakes.shutterfly.com/

Cody's First Birthday!

Cody turned ONE on Tuesday!! I can't believe it's already been a year! The time is just going too fast! It's been an amazing year. Probably the most wonderful and most trying of my life. Cody has brought so much joy in our lives! I can't imagine life without him. In fact, even though Steven and I had five years together without him, it's hard to remember what that was like.

Well, Cody has already hit so many milestones before he ever turned one. He eats solid food, drinks cow's milk, says "dada, mama, dah (that), Jesus, and ya", can ALMOST dribble a ball, can throw balls (and other things), sleeps through the night, goes down slides by himself, can walk really well, comes up with his own dance moves, can even go up and down the stairs all by himself, and so much more. He is an amazing little boy, and we sure do love him!

His birthday was a lot of work, and a lot of fun. I've imagined what my kid's first birthday's would be like for years, and I was very pleased with how it turned out. We had Great G'pa, both sets of grandparents, uncles & aunts, cousins, and even some friends there to celebrate with us. We had dinner, a basketball pinata, pin the soccer player on the soccer ball, cake (including Cody's very own soccer ball cake), and presents. Cody got so many great things. Thank you so much to everyone who came and helped make Cody's birthday a truly memorable one (for his parents at least). I really think Cody had a lot of fun! Needless to say, I was absolutely exhausted by the end of the night. Happy Birthday Cody boy!

You are thoughtful and care very deeply for your family. A loving home is of great importance to you and you always try to make people feel welcome. Although you have a great capacity to love, you also have a great capacity to hurt, so at times you can be sensitive. You're firm when you need to be, but people trust your judgment and appreciate the kind way you always handle things.

Make any forts lately?

Steven and I watched our nephew Robert overnight a few weekends ago. During the day, Robert asked if we could make a fort. My first thought was, "Oh great. How in the world are we going to do that?" Then, my inner child swooped in and all these many memories I have of making forts when I was little flooded my memory. I got really excited really quick. I think I blew my nephew away. I started producing sheets and blankets and barstools and boxes and heavy things to keep things in place at lightning speed. I think I was more excited than he was. We put it together, and he commented that he had never made such a big fort before. I was pretty proud of myself. There were 2 entrances along with 2 halls that led to the large inner room. Needless to say, I could really feel my imagination emerging. We had a blast! We played board games and watched TV in our fort...all while Cody was sleeping of course. I knew that as soon as Cody came downstairs, the fort wouldn't stand a chance. I was right. Here are some pictures to prove my turning into a kid for a day (or at least an hour). If you haven't made any forts lately, I highly recommend it! Good times!

Thank You!!

I just wanted to thank everyone that has offered babysitting services or information on babysitters since my blog on our desperate search for one. We have been blown away by how many of you talked to us about it. So...THANK YOU! I'm sure many of you will be hearing from us at some point.

Help! We need a babysitter!

Cody has mastered his balance! His shirt says "I do all my own stunts". Very appropriate, wouldn't you say?

Okay, so once again, Steven and I have had to resort to taking Cody on our now "un"date-night. Cody is to the point where he does NOT want to be held, sit down, or still for more then about 2.2 seconds. He is just go go go all the time. Although this is absolutely one of my favorite things about him as it provides me with hours of entertainment just watching him discover the world around him...it makes for a really hard time trying to go ANYWHERE. I have loved taking Cody with us places, because, until he could walk, it was so fun to watch him in awe at his new surroundings and everything going on around him. But now that he is 100% mobile, those days are no more. Not only does he want to watch, but he wants to touch and play with, and then move onto the next thing asap. Anyway, I feel like I'm repeating myself. Enough said.

Now, to the point...does anybody know any really good, trustworthy babysitters? We don't want to leave Cody with just anyone, but if someone was highly recommended, we are a little more open to it. We would really like someone that we could count on to watch him a couple times a month so Steven and I can spend some time together. Which is a pretty rare occurence these days as I'm sure most of you moms out there understand. We would try to get some girls from the ward, but most of them are getting to the age where they really aren't available anymore. Anyway, if any of you know anyone, please let me know. Thank you!

New Recipes!

Okay, so I have 3 new recipes in my recipe blog. Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken Roll-Ups (I know...sounds crazy, but they're REALLY good), and Green Smoothies. Thanks goes to my college roommate, an old ward recipe book, and my mother-in-law. Enjoy!

Some Firsts for Cody

First time on the windowsill. Geez, you would think the child has never seen outside before. No, he just LOVES to be outside!

First time on a trampoline. He didn't do much jumping. Just kind of stood there wondering what in the world he was supposed to be doing.
First time walking around the campfire. He got filthy, it was great! He was obsessed with all the rocks.
First football game last Saturday. We got free tickets, so thought we'd try it out. We only made it one quarter, but it was the 2nd quarter...the most exciting one, so it worked out perfect! Cody was so bewildered by all the crazy screaming people surrounding him, including his mom. He had fun until the hot dogs and ice cream were gone. He must be my son. That's pretty much the only reason I go to football games. Although, I have to say, I DO enjoy a good intense game!

Another Boutique

It must be Boutique week or something. I have another cousin who just opened up a little shop that sells the cutest women's clothes and accessories and it also has a few adorable baby items as well, such as bedding, clothes, nursing covers, books, etc. The grand opening was yesterday, and wow, was I impressed! The clothes are very chic, and very surprisingly affordable. Shirts that look like they would be $50 at least (in fact I was a bit afraid of looking at the prices at first) were only $25 or less. I bought a really cute hat that would usually sell for around $20 for $13. She has always been the most fashionable one in the family, so you can imagine how cute her shop must be. Anyway, you ladies should check it out some time. In fact (ward girls, and anybody else that might be interested), we should reinstate our monthly day outings and go there and then to lunch some time. If you're interested, let me know. Anyway, the store is called "Our Little Store". The address is 59 West Main Street in American Fork. It's on the South side of the road (right side of the road if coming from the freeway, left side of the road if coming from Pleasant Grove). Check it out!

Boutique Blog Giveaway!

My cousin has a boutique blog where she's giving away this adorable chore board. I just thought I'd let you all know. I think it's adorable and would try to win it myself, but I think it's geared more towards families with a couple kids at least. She's really talented and does a really good job! Anyway, take a look...http://www.thisnthatboutique.blogspot.com/

A-B-C

Okay, so my friend Kate tagged me with this like 2 months ago, and I completely spaced it until I did the Hubby Tag. Anyway...here it is.

A - Attached or Single? Attached
B - Best Friend(s)? Steven and Cody.
C - Cake or Pie? Usually neither unless it's yellow cake with chocolate frosting, or pretty much ANY of my mom's amazing pies.
D - Day of Choice? Any day that Cody's happy and takes good naps.
E - Essential Item? My sanity...so anything that gets or keeps me there. :)
F - Favorite Color? That really popular more natural blue that's out there a lot right now.
G - Gummy bears or worms? Yuk, neither.
H - Holiday of choice? Halloween!!!
I - Indulgence? Blogging, the Twilight books, shopping, and chocolate chip cookies.
J - January or July? DEFINITELY July!! I HATE winter...especially when I can't afford to do one of the only things that make it bearable...ski. Why do they have to make it so stinking expensive!?! Plus, 4th of July is one of my very favorite holidays.
K - Kids? One adorable little guy.
L - Life isn't complete without? Our annual Disneyland trips. Gotta love it! And of course my hunk of a husband and my sweet little boy.
M - Marriage date? November 15th 2002
N - Number of brothers and sisters? 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
O - Oranges or apples? Ooooh, oranges, definitely, but I'm partial to the juiced variety.
P - Phobias? Aaaahh!! Spiders and sharks! Oh, and my new, and frankly strange one...babies playing with paper in fear of them getting a papercut. Where that one came from I have no idea. I cringe every time I see a baby with paper.
Q - Quote? "I listen to the wind, to the wind of my soul. Where I'll end up, well I think only God really knows." -Cat Stevens
R - Reason to smile? When my house is clean.
S - Season of choice? Fall.
T - Tag 3 people: Kristy, Jennifer, and "The Ornery Guy" ha ha, this oughta be good, that is if he's not TOO ornery to participate.
U - Unknown facts about me? I can make the tip of my tongue do this weird ribbed thing; I've never gotten a brain freeze; I am absolutely terrified of water skiing but LOVE the water, and LOVE snow skiing...go figure; I love horseback riding and would love to have horses of my own some day; and I would have been a botanist and spent my life studying the rainforests of the world (which I have a huge passion for) if I hadn't met Steven.
V - Vegetable? Lately I have had a major thing for sweet potatoes...yum!
W - Worst Habit? Letting my house go to pot.
X - X-ray or Ultrasound? Wow, what a strange question! Ultrasounds are obviously the funner experience when you have them to see your growing child.
Y - Your favorite food? I could probably eat Bajios Chicken Green Chile Salad every day.
Z - Zodiac sign? Gemini (see the "About Me" on Ornery Guy's page to see a perfect definition of Gemini's, and thus a perfect definition of me.)

Ya, surprised me...no but seriously, he has so many...he can walk on stilts like it's nothing, he surprised me when he did all the plumbing in a house we were remodeling, and not a lot of people know this but he can point his toes in the best ballerina arch I've ever seen. (: Steven surprises people all the time with different talents he has. He's amazing!
16-How old is he? 29
17-What's his favorite type of music? Country.

Breaking Dawn!

I know what happens!! Do you!?!

Happy Birthday Sweetheart!!

It was Steven's birthday on Friday. More than anything, Steven just wanted to take it as easy as possible that day, so we didn't do much during the day. We did open presents though, and we went to a park to have a picnic and some peanut butter bars (thanks Katie) with his family. We played frisbee, chatted, and just hung out. It was a lot of fun!
His presents before...

...and after. I think Cody looks more excited about Steven's presents than he does.
